Weekly Disability Benefits (For Active Members Only)

Weekly Disability Benefits will be paid to eligible Active Members for a disability due to illness or injury. See your SPD for more detailed information about Weekly Disability benefits.

Life Insurance Benefits

Upon the death of an Active Member, Pre-Medicare Retired Member or Retired Medicare-Eligible Member, from any cause, Life Insurance benefits will be payable to your beneficiary or beneficiaries. You may designate anyone you wish as a beneficiary, and you may change your beneficiary at any time by submitting the Beneficiary Card with the Fund Office. Your Beneficiary Card must be made in writing and be on file with the Fund Office at the time of your death in order to be valid. Please know that the Fund will not accept any Beneficiary Card filed after your death.

As a reminder, if your Fund eligibility is terminated for any reason, then the Life Insurance benefits provided through the Fund are also terminated. However, the Fund wants you to know that you do have a “Conversion Right” to an individual life insurance policy. Please be aware that this Conversion Right only deals with life insurance, and you do not have the ability to elect to continue coverage for AD&D benefits (discussed below). If you exercise your Conversion Right, you must pay the full cost of your Life Insurance coverage on your own.

Accidental Death and Dismemberment Benefits (For Active Members Only)

If you sustain any of the following injuries as the result of an accident, you or your beneficiary, in case you die as a result of the accident, will be entitled to receive an Accidental Death and Dismemberment (AD&D) benefit. See your SPD for more detailed information about AD&D benefits.
