Eligibility

For Eligible Members

You will become an Active Member and eligible for benefits on the January 1, April 1, July 1 or October 1 after the required Employer Contributions have been made on your behalf by Contributing Employers for work performed under a Collective Bargaining Agreement or Participation Agreement within the jurisdiction of Iron Workers' Locals No. 15 and 424. Your Eligible Dependents will become eligible for benefits at the time you become eligible. You may be asked to offer "sufficient proof" to the Fund Office of having worked hours in Covered Employment for which employer contributions were not received to get credit for those hours. “Sufficient proof” includes but is not limited to paystubs, W-2 forms or other evident of work in Covered Employment. For Eligible Dependents

An "Eligible Dependent" includes an Active Member's, Pre-Medicare Retired Member's or Retired Medicare-Eligible Member's Spouse and any Child (until the last day of the month that includes the Child's 26th birthday). Under the Affordable Care Act (ACA), eligible children can join or remain on the Plan even if they are: married, not living with their parents, attending school, not claimed as a dependent on their parent’s tax return, or eligible to enroll in their employer’s plan.

An unmarried Child of an Active Member, Pre-Medicare Retired Member or Retired Medicare-Eligible Member who is incapable of supporting himself or herself due to a physical or mental disability as certified by a physician and who remains dependent on you for full support and maintenance, continues to be eligible for coverage beyond age 26, provided that the Child's incapacity started before his or her 19th birthday and you continue to remain eligible for coverage with the Fund. Proof of the Child’s disability is required to be submitted to the Fund Office.

The number of hours of Employer Contributions required for initial eligibility are as follows:
